Cecilia Silva, Ph.D.

Dr. Cecilia Silva is a Senior Scientist at Tufts University School of Medicine working on the bacteria that causes Lyme disease. Her prior work has focused on the use of genetic tools to understand biological processes such as solid tumor colonization by Salmonella, persister formation in E. coli and V. cholerae, phage predation and the interplay between protozoa and bacteria! She is attempting to bring some of these molecular genetic tools to study Borrelia burgdorferi and identify genetic interactions that could be novel targets for Lyme disease treatment

Fun fact: Cecilia is a huge fan of the Big-Bang theory, any similarity with reality is purely coincidental. She also has a blog where she narrates her adventures at https://www.academic-family.com/
