Alexander Poltorak, PhD

Dr. Alexander “Sasha” Poltorak is a Professor of Immunology at Tufts University School of Medicine and the Chair of the Department of Immunology.  He was involved in the original discovery of Toll-like receptor 4, the first endotoxin receptor discovered, which plays a major role in sepsis.  Since then his laboratory continues to study immune defenses against pathogens.  His laboratory has been collaborating with Dr. Hu’s laboratory to uncover the role of innate immune receptors in the pathogenesis of Lyme disease
