Atul Sharma, PhD

Dr. Atul Sharma received his Ph.D. in Biosensors and Bio-analytical Chemistry from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, Rajasthan, India in 2018. Since, 2021, he is currently working as a Senior Postdoctoral Fellow at Nanolab, Tufts University, Medford Campus, mentored by Prof. Sameer Sonkusale. His expertise centers on the development of biosensor platforms for detecting biomarkers for human health monitoring and emerging contaminants using flexible bioelectronics, thread-based sensing platforms, microneedles, ingestible devices, electrochemical biosensor, point-of-care devices, microfluidics. synthetic receptors (aptamer, nucleic acids, molecularly imprinted polymer), and nanomaterials. Dr. Sharma earned his Bachelor’s in Pharmacy (2009) and Master’s in Pharmaceutical Chemistry in 2011, from India. He also served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at SGT University, Gurugram, India (2020-21).  He is working on applications of microneedles to the diagnosis and treatment of Lyme disease
