Research synopsis:

Certain strains of Borrelia burgdorferi, the causative agent of Lyme disease, vary in their ability to cause inflammation and/or innate immune tolerance. I am interested in understanding if there are any bacterial factors among the different strains that can induce inflammation or innate immune tolerance in mammalian hosts.
