Laura Liscum, Ph.D.

Dr. Laura Liscum is President of the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen (PBGV) Health and Rescue Foundation. The PBGV Health & Rescue Foundation is dedicated to the protection and preservation of the Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen. The Foundation receives and administers funds for charitable, scientific, and educational purposes. One of our objectives is to fund research into the health, care, and breeding of purebred PBGVs. The health issues that we fund largely represent those directly pertinent to our breed; however, we also fund research that has the potential to have a significant impact on all breeds – this includes Lyme disease. The PBGV is a scent hound, bred to hunt rabbits through fields with thick underbrush, brambles, and (unfortunately) ticks. We are proud to support the Tufts Lyme Disease Initiative and thank them for their efforts to eliminate Lyme disease as a human and companion animal threat.
