Sameer Sonkusale, PhD

Sameer Sonkusale is a professor of electrical and computer engineering, biomedical engineering, and chemical and biological engineering at Tufts University. He leads an interdisciplinary  research  laboratory, NanoLab at the  Tufts Medford campus.  His areas of research are in biomedical devices, circuits and  instrumentation. He is well known for his inventions on smart threads for tissue  embedded sensing and diagnostics, smart bandages for monitoring and treatment of chronic wounds, and ingestible lab on pill devices for studying gut microbiome. He has also pioneered novel microneedle array  technology  for drug delivery  and sensing  applications.  He has been working on adapting his microneedle technology for the diagnosis and treatment of Lyme disease
