Research synopsis: 

My work focuses on understanding how the bacterium that causes Lyme disease, Borrelia burgdorferi, generates populations of antibiotic tolerant cells called persister cells.  In graduate school, I studied how Borrelia sensed and adapted to the environment of Ixodes spp. ticks and vertebrate hosts. After graduate school, I pursued a postdoc at Tufts University and investigated how antibacterials work on the bacterium that causes TB using a combination of fluorescence microscopy and quantitative biology. Using these tools, I plan to investigate how persister cell formation occurs in Bb and develop ways to kill these troublesome cells.

Fun fact: Trever is a huge fan of ghost stories. He has been on a ghost tour in every major city he has visited.  In my spare time, I play guitar and spend time with my cats.
