Eleanor Astley, M.S.
Ellie is a Research Assistant in Dr. Linden Hu’s lab at Tufts University, where she integrates computational and experimental approaches to study the immunological and microbiological aspects of Lyme disease. She holds an MSc in Control of Infectious Diseases and a BSc (Hons) in Medical Microbiology and Virology, and brings several years of research experience to her work.
Her research has contributed to the identification of genes essential for Borrelia burgdorferi survival in the nymphal tick, the characterization of transcriptomic profiles in infected mice, the development of novel antibiotic candidates for B. burgdorferi, and a deeper understanding of biomarkers associated with Post-Treatment Lyme Disease Syndrome (PTLDS).
Outside the lab, Ellie is an adventurer at heart. She enjoys traveling, climbing, and gravel biking, and is recently discovering the joys of skiing.
