Research Synopsis:
My research focuses on how Borrelia burgdorferi, the causative bacteria of Lyme disease, alters the innate immune response long term. In some patients, this altered response leads to persistent symptoms despite antibiotic treatment. As a result, understanding these changes induced by Borrelia may lead to treatments which can help patients.
