Research Synopsis:
Yang Wang, M.D., Ph.D., is a physician-scientist and biotech executive who has spent the last 20 years turning lab discoveries into medicine for infectious diseases including Lyme disease. A graduate of the Tufts University School of Biomedical Sciences (Ph.D. ’07), she joins Tufts Lyme Disease Initiative, bridging the gap between academic research and the practical realities of drug development.
Her work centers on the development of Lyme disease prophylactic antibodies. As a co-inventor and developer of the Lyme disease prophylactic antibody 2217LS, she spearheaded the program’s journey from laboratory discovery into first-in-human clinical studies. Drawing on her recent work in translational immunology, she is looking to utilize her cross-sector expertise to explore innovative, multidisciplinary therapeutic strategies that address the persistent unmet needs of the Lyme disease community.
